Maria Cecilia Dedios is an assistant professor at Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and research officer at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her work focuses on peer and family socialization processes among young people in contexts of disadvantage, and on social cognition in relation to violence among the same population. Dr Dedios has carried out research on moral reasoning among young people belonging to peace building groups and gangs in Colombia, on the life trajectories, mental health and social capital of people in communities highly exposed to the Colombian conflict, and on mental health among undocumented young adults in the U.S. She is currently a visiting fellow at the Latin American and Caribbean Centre at the LSE.
