My research develops and utilizes concepts, methods and techniques that look for turning image and geospatial data into useful information. It aims at generating knowledge that leads to a better understanding of territories at different spatial scales. I promote critical thinking and critical geoinformatics as tools for knowledge production and social transformation.

I am interested in contributing to bridging the gap between academics, communities as local governments as a means of building sustainable solutions to address territorial challenges on environmental, social and
economic issues.

My research focuses on the following application areas:
• Biophysical and socioeconomic characterization of territories and landscapes
• Environmental and territorial planning
• Mapping and assessment of social-ecological systems

My methodological toolset draws from an interdisciplinary range of fields, including remote sensing, spatial analysis, spatial statistics, and computational techniques such as data mining, machine & deep learning, dynamic systems and agent-based modeling.
